A boudoir shoot is a exciting date in your calendar and it’s important to keep a few do’s and don’ts in mind to ensure that your shoot is successful. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your day with us.

Do’s:

  1. Communicate with your photographer. Before your shoot, make sure you communicate with me about your vision and what you hope to achieve from the shoot. This will help me understand your style and preferences and create a shoot plan that works for you.
  2. Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Select outfits you love. They don’t have to be the newest trend or this years colours. Its important you love what you choose to wear.
  3. Consider bringing a variety of lingerie options so that you have choices on the day. If you do buy an outfit for your shoot please try it on before hand. I do have ladies bringing lingerie they have never tried on before. Its a gamble and adds to your nerves. If we do have any lingerie disasters on the day I have some lovely fabrics we can use. Some ladies like to bring something to make their shoot their own. We have had leather jackets, builder belts and that crisp white shirt.
  4. Take care of your skin. In the days leading up to your appointment, make sure you’re taking care of your skin by staying hydrated and using a moisturiser. Avoid trying new skincare products right before your shoot, as they can cause skin irritation or breakouts. Try and get some good sleep too.
  5. A good idea a couple of days before is to have a pedicure and manicure. (I will have your hands and feet in shot.)
  6. Do remember to pack your ID. I may ask to see it before we start your session.
  7. Hair. If your hair is coloured I would suggest having a fresh colour applied.

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t schedule your shoot too close to an important event. Give yourself plenty of time to relax and prepare for your day with us without feeling rushed. Having your boudoir shoot close to your wedding or vacation can add unnecessary stress.
  2. Don’t try new hairstyles or makeup on the day. Stick to looks that you’re comfortable with and that make you feel confident. A different look can potentially lead to an outcome that you are not satisfied with.
  3. Don’t compare yourself to others. Boudoir photography is all about celebrating your unique beauty and individuality. Avoid comparing yourself to others or feeling like you need to fit a certain mold. Embrace your unique qualities and allow them to shine through in your photos.
  4. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Remember that boudoir photography is meant to be a fun and empowering experience. Take your time, communicate with me exactly what you would like, and enjoy the process.
  5. Please please don’t apply a fake tan the night before. Streaks are not easy to remove. Tan can also stain your fingers, elbows, knees and feet. Moisturiser is your friend. So before application moisturise well. If you would still like to have a fake tan do this a few days before.
  6. Don’t forget your roots! You would be surprised how many people think I can magically sort out your visible roots. This isn’t true. We can schedule your day with us around your next hair dressers appointment.
  7. Try not to wear tight clothing on the day. It can leave pressure marks on your skin.
